Church growth is God’s idea. As long as God is interested in people and as long as people count before God, they must count to us as well. God’s current project is building the church so if we are working alongside with Him, it should be our goal also to build the church.
Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
Matthew 16:18
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:9 KJV
The formula behind growing a church the biblical way is not complicated:
- Attract new people
- Close the back door so they do not leave
- Help people grow spiritually
- Raise leaders to do what you do so you multiply yourself
For example, if you attract 50 people a year and only 10 leave of that 50, that’s 40 additional new members every year. If you are able to raise 3 leaders just like you, you are able to bring 120 people to the Kingdom of God.
Most churches do not grow because the back door is widely opened so when people come in, they leave. If the pastor is inefficient in raising leaders, supernatural expansion is not experienced.
Under each section, I will give you some tips and scriptural backing. Just pick the ones you don’t do and focus on them. My advice is pick them one at a time and get it running and focus on the next.
The subsequent articles provide tips on church growth. Go through carefully to get the maximum benefit out of it.
