Bible says that without faith it’s impossible to please God. Many pastors trying to play cautious or being afraid to be disappointed, have targets which are humanly possible. If your church is 30 people and you have a target of 100 people for a big day, it looks quite impossible but if each member invites 2 people, it becomes more than possible.
Pastors must stretch their faith and have such targets. Such targets would cause him to pray more instead of relying on tactics and strategies. This is because irrespective of who plants and waters, the growth comes from God.
The vision causes him to engage the Lord of the Harvest, the Holy Spirit, the harvest gatherers, the reaper angels and all spiritual forces to make this happen. In one day, our church grew from 40 to 100 because that was the goal I gave them. Dr. Yonggi Cho always says that you don’t make your vision but your vision makes you.
For it was I, the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.
Psalm 81:10
From the end of the earth I will cry to you whenever my heart is overwhelmed. Place me on the rock that’s too high for me.
Psalm 61:2
These verses emphasize the importance of stretching your faith. Don’t be afraid to be disappointed. If you are going to win, then decide to win big. Stretch your faith and try to open your mouth wide for God has promised to fill it. Sometimes out of disappointment, we settle for whatever will happen but God is pleased with great faith. God moves when he sees great faith. Pick a number you are sure only God can do and is also realistically possible and lead your congregation towards that land. Let them call you proud or arrogant or anything they want to but you are just believing God and opening your mouth wide to receive God’s blessing.
