The Bible describes the church as the body of Christ with many members. We are many, but we are actually one body.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ
1 Corinthians 12:12
How does the human body grow? It grows by cell mitosis. Mitosis is a part of the cell cycle process by which chromosomes in a cell nucleus are separated into two identical sets of chromosomes, each in its own nucleus. This means one cell becomes two and the two cells begin to grow and they break up into 4 cells and they grow and continue the process. This is what grows the human body. In the same way, the growth of the spiritual body is through spiritual mitosis of the cell.
The cell can just be one individual who focuses on spiritual health, growth and multiplication. How can I be healthy spiritually, grow others and get one to break out and also start replicating the process? If you can focus on building your cell groups in your church, your church will grow. The cell groups will close your back door so that people are able to connect without any problems.
That was also the model being used by the early church and it’s a good model to adopt.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 2:46-47
You will discover that the early church met in the temple with one accord. That’s similar to the Sunday service experience. They also met from house to house which is the cell group model I’m sharing here. This ensures gladness, oneness, sharing meals and everyone loving one another. God blesses such a thing and so the verse ends showing that the Lord added to the church daily because of this.
Applying the cell group model to your church will cause the blessing of the Lord adding daily to the church coming to pass in your ministry.
This book is primarily for pastors as a teaching material to help their church transition into a ministry strengthened at the basic level with cells. It can also be used by cell group leaders as a reference to learn the skill that grows and multiplies their groups. If you are a pastor or a cell group leader and you are ready to allow God to grow your church, read on.
